Injury Lawyers are perceived as ambulance chasers by some, while others consider them as a savior in a time of need. Following are some of the tips on how to select a personal injury lawyer.

You will also find a link “Find Legal Help” on the ABA website.  You can read list of various lawyers.  ABA website will also provide useful legal resources which will help you in your legal journey.

Step 2 – Speak with your friends and relatives and ask if they know of a good lawyer.  The experience of lawyer can affect the outcome of your case. Therefore make sure to hire a competent attorney.

Step 3 – You can ask your lawyer for referrals particularly in personal injury cases.

Step 4 – You can fix an appointment once you have a list of various lawyers. You can ask your lawyer about his/her experience in handling similar cases.  You can also ask about whether they have won any case similar to yours. You should also enquire about issues such as how long will it take to win the case, and how much it will cost.

Step 5- Most of the lawyers work on contingency basis. Therefore you don’t need to pay anything before hiring a lawyer. However, you must get a fee agreement in writing and review it before signing.

Step 6 – Make sure you get along well with your lawyer. You need to spend whole lot of time with your lawyer therefore you must gel well with your lawyer. Having a friendly and good negotiator is a huge asset in a lawyer. If you are able to maintain a rapport with your lawyer, others will too.

Step 7 – Always be patient and ask your lawyer to update you on any progress he/she has mage.  Most of the personal injury lawyers handle several cases at the same time. Therefore you should request your lawyer to update in case there has been any major breakthrough in your case.

Step 8 – If you feel that lawyer is not responding to your calls and do not reply back then it is an indication that you should fire your lawyer.
